For next week, we'll begin Ch. 19 in the Chosen program, which focuses on Mary, who she is and her role in our lives.
Literature 7: In class this week we read the first three chapters of The Outsiders, discussing the personality, emotional and mental characteristics of each of the main characters and how the personalities/qualities add to and further the story.
For next week, we'll continue reading the novel, chapters 4-6, and working through the novel workbook.
Homework: Outsiders workbook chapters 1-3 comprehension questions and vocabulary
English 7: For class this week, we reviewed for the Ch. 5 grammar test and completed the test on Thursday. The class also applied the concepts of participles, gerunds and infinitives into a skeleton story, working to build more descriptive, longer sentences.
For next week, we'll work on Ch. 8 in the grammar textbook on kinds of sentences--types of clauses, simple, compound and complex sentences and further strengthening our understanding of structure and syntax. We'll also have the cumulative review 1-12 vocabulary test on Friday.
Homework: Vocabulary Cumulative Review 1-12 due Friday; Grammar 8.1 due Thursday
English 8: The eighth graders have started writing their "A Change in History" essays, and their rough drafts will be due Wednesday.
For next week, in addition to finishing the rough drafts of the essay, we'll also continue with the grammar unit on prepositions, working through 7.2 and 7.3.
